“Thank you to the fans who’re shouting out for me. I never think I can become one of the excellent albums. I wanna thank my team. When making this album, I explained a lot about what I want to express. All the years, this is the album that I spend the most time to understand me. As a female, when you have an opinion, you want to say something from your heart, you need to say it bravely, make your decision bravely. This is what I’ve found in this album, my true self. Thank you to Tom Wang and Rain Hsu from Eternal. When making the album, we are supporting, encouraging each other and exchanging opinions. I cant believe I’m in this career for 20 years, thank you Ms Ke for believing in me and has given me lots of resources. Thank you, my friends, for giving me lots of support, and my fans thank you! Also my team, I felt sorry for Grass Jelly Production for not getting the Best Music Video. They spend maximum effort on me, really thank you all of them behind the scenes. And also my production team, Razor Chiang, Howe Chen, Starr Chen, OZI, they’re really supporting me, I truly thanks them for real. Thanks! I love y’all!!!!!!”

“Ugly Beauty was unique in its style. Taiwanese society has experienced different kinds of sorrow over the past year. A lot of albums have expressed it in a melancholic way, but Jolin Tsai’s album healed the public in an entertaining and enjoyable way. It took the jury two rounds of voting to declare “Ugly Beauty” Album of the Year.”

Song of the Year Award 玫瑰少年 Womxnly– WON
“Really thank you Razor Chiang and my scandal internet friend Ashin, this song is full of life. Thank you Hou Chi-Jian (Director of the Yeh Yung-Chih documentary from PLAY World Tour and of We’re All Different, Yet The Same MV), for introducing me the story of Yeh Yung-Chih. Yeh reminds me that in any situation, I might be the minority. Making me be more empathy to love everyone around me. This song is dedicated to him and also everyone who thinks that you got no chance or no one chooses you. You must remember, you choose yourself, support yourself! Thank you!”

The MV’s release date, June 26th, was the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking… After watching the MV, you’ll understand the obvious reason why this specific day has been chosen !
This new MV like the previous ones provided an English translation for foreign fans, you can check it out by clicking on CC in the video or here:
No horror this time, director Cheng Wei-Hao (紅衣女孩 Lady In Red MV) created a “classic love story” for Jolin. The girlfriend of a good-for-nothing man is going to take an exam to become a police officer. This original combination of sweethearts will most likely not be eternal. This man is going to be involved in criminal activities, the romance of these two people will be full of twists and turns.
Jolin is acting as the madly and foolishly in love girlfriend, Rhydian Vaughan as the handsome boyfriend, and Bamboo Chen as the bad guy going too far. Both men are fighting each other in the MV. They even went to martial arts class for action training !
The story is about Rhydian Vaughan, a punk being in love with policewoman Jolin. As the story progresses, their couple encounters a bitter fate, and becomes intertwined with Bamboo Chen, who plays a junkie. Return to reality, to unmask a sad and beautiful love story.
At some point in the MV Rhydian Vaughan is arrested, and Jolin sheds tears from her heart. Cheng Wei-Hao praised Jolin for her very good acting in the MV. Jolin revealed that she read words written by her in her diary that were similar to bidding farewell to someone in order to help her for that particular scene.
In order to fit with the music genre, the director mostly used colors “blue” and “red” and designed three scenes: “Police”, “Nightclub”, and “Bitter Life”. He said that people associate nightclubs with “red”, and police is associated with “blue”. Blue and red are also the colors for men and women restrooms. There’s also another meaning: in the “romance world”, these colors represent the difference between men and women.
“For me, romance is someone in my heart, whether he’s by my side or has already left, you long for him, he’s in the picture, that’s romance ! The dialogue of the MV always evokes the state of mind of the characters, because there must be more or less a reflection of the heart of the boyfriend/girlfriend, I think that’s the most romantic thing.”
🇬🇧 Jolin was 李玟 CoCo Lee‘s special guest last night at Taipei Arena for the first date of her new World Tour !
