🇬🇧 Yesterday, Jolin performed Pleasure for the first time at the 2025 Hito Music Awards !

Setlist: Pleasure + PLAY PLAY我呸

This marked her first public performance since announcing the new album. She gave the debut live performance of “Pleasure,” and performed as well her hit track “Play PLAY我呸,” in sync with 12 dancers. The show opened with a seductive red lighting backdrop. Clad in avant-garde dark leather and towering thigh-high boots, Jolin stood atop a three-story-high LED structure dubbed the “Wall of Original Sin,” reaching the summit of the “Temple of Desire.”

Then, like a scene from a movie, a massive, lifelike serpent of desire slithered upward. As she sang the lyrics of “Pleasure,” Jolin engaged in a whispering dialogue with the giant snake, saying: “Call me Mommy!” The stage visuals were intense and immersive, creating a stunning spectacle.

As the rhythm changed, Jolin and her 12 male dancers—dressed in sheer leather cutouts—delivered a physically expressive and emotionally charged performance. The choreography, designed by top choreographer Robbie Blue, was showcased for the first time in front of a live audience.

Jolin later switched up her look, putting on stylish sunglasses and transforming from the “Mother of Pleasure” into a queen of attitude to perform “Play PLAY我呸.” Jolin had the track rearranged for the 2025 Hito Music Awards, giving it a more futuristic and fashionable flair, with a powerful presence.

However, there was a major blunder during the show. After her performance, the host mistakenly announced that Jolin would be performing at Taipei Arena in December.

Later, the organizers clarified: “At the end of the ceremony, the host made an error in announcing concert information. We hereby clarify and apologize. Please refer to official announcements for accurate event details.”

A new song from the album will be released on June 27th ! It’s called DIY.

Jolin’s 15th new album “Pleasure” will contain 11 songs and will be released in July.

🇬🇧 Pleasure MV was released on June 6th.
It already reached more than 20 million views online !

To bring the music video to life, Jolin traveled to Los Angeles in mid-March 2025, dedicating herself to intensive dance rehearsals and filming. This time, internationally acclaimed director Christian Breslauer was invited to direct the MV, and Jolin collaborated for the first time with top choreographer Robbie Blue to craft a visual masterpiece.

Filming took place at Universal Studios Hollywood, with three soundstages booked simultaneously to build six elaborate sets. A rigorous two-day shoot followed.

In post-production, several elite Hollywood visual effects teams were brought on board, devoting two months to meticulously sculpting the animation and visual design. The result is a three-minute journey through the theme of the “Seven Deadly Sins”, blending dramatic intensity with fantastic visuals. Watch it below:

Jolin turned to a professional translation firm to provide English subtitles for the video. As a consequence, Pleasure‘s English translation has been updated on Jolin Jeneration:

In the music video, Jolin transforms into an omniscient figure — a “Female Zeus” of fate — as well as a soul traveler who journeys through the trials of the Seven Deadly Sins. She takes on six personas: a self-obsessed sculptor, a money-hungry Black Widow, a female warrior battling inner demons, a Sleeping Beauty trapped in a dreamlike chaos, and a priestess leading a joyful mass sacrifice. Each identity mirrors a sin and unveils a layer of the self, as she goes through six realms: the Temple of Desire, the narcissistic Golden Idol, the Black Gold Abyss of Greed, the Asura Arena of internal conflict, the Cradle of Inertia where consciousness collapses, and the Altar of Ecstatic Sacrifice.

The MV opens with Jolin in the Temple of Desire. Behind her, a “Wall of Original Sin” composed of twisted human limbs. She raises her hand and sets the Wheel of Fate in motion.

The story begins with Pride, the first of the Seven Deadly Sins, and flows through Greed, Wrath, Sloth, Lust — weaving a spiritual narrative that explores human desire, identity, and self-confrontation. The confrontation in “Wrath” represents the constant reckoning with one’s inner shadows — a cycle of struggle, destruction, and rebirth that ultimately leads to soul refinement and transcendence.

To authentically portray the physical and emotional intensity of this scene, Jolin trained with a martial arts instructor to master complex choreography and deliver a performance rooted in both strength and vulnerability.

At its core, the MV conveys a profound message: “Only by facing the self can one move toward true liberation and pleasure.”

Prior to the MV shoot, Jolin arrived early in Los Angeles to rehearse with her team. Choreographer Robbie Blue crafted movements specifically tailored to the rhythm and style of the track.

In this choreography, Jolin blends martial arts elements with contemporary dance, interweaving dynamic gestures with the dancers’ fists and footwork. At one point, the dancers transform into devotional pilgrims, lifting Jolin — embodying a high priestess — into the air.

During the official shoot, the production ran on a tight, efficient schedule — nearly every shot landed on the first take. Jolin maintained peak energy throughout, later commenting with a smile: “The team did an excellent job in preparation, and we wrapped on time. As long as I don’t stay up late, I’m not tired at all. I’ve discovered that I’m actually well-suited to Hollywood working hours!”

Adding a touch of fun behind the scenes, Jolin applied to personally drive a golf cart around Universal Studios during the shoot. She took on the role of the crew’s “chauffeur,” helping transport staff between sets, playfully dubbing herself the “god driver” of the team. The experience proved to be not only creatively fulfilling but also filled with lighthearted, unforgettable moments.

Jolin also enlisted THE SQUARED DIVISION as the album’s visual and concept coordinator, crafting an unprecedented aesthetic for “Pleasure” within the Chinese music scene. Having previously earned widespread acclaim for the visual design of the “Ugly Beauty” world tour, THE SQUARED DIVISION expanded their collaboration this time, engaging in close dialogue from the earliest stages of the album’s production. Together, they constructed a groundbreaking mythic narrative — awakening in the fiery depths of desire and striving to present a Pleasure Era defined by inner empowerment and the liberation of boundaries.

“Pleasure” immediately achieved remarkable success on major digital music platforms both domestically and internationally. It quickly rose to #1 on the KKBOX Taiwan Daily and Real-time Charts, as well as the Singapore Daily Chart. The song also topped the Taiwan Hot Songs Chart on Apple Music and iTunes.

Additionally, album preorder sales on QQ Music surpassed 100,000 copies within just 14 hours, outperforming the first-day sales of the previous album, “Ugly Beauty”, and setting a new record for the fastest-selling female singer in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

🇬🇧 Yesterday, Jolin revealed on her YouTube channel a MV preview for Pleasure ! You can watch it below.

We also have more info about the album’s concept, thanks to Chinese sites such as QQ Music (the digital version of the album is already up for preorder there).

“Pleasure” is an inner transformation, talking about “sex” and “human nature”.

“I realize I’ve never stopped to ask myself, ‘What do I like?’ Society tends to view ‘needs’ through a fixed lens, regard deep desires as unclean, and dismiss physical pleasure as superficial — making ‘pleasure’ a topic that’s deliberately avoided. We rarely speak of it directly, and we never truly engage with it.” – Jolin

At this stage, Jolin chose to face herself honestly. She said, “I really want to live a different kind of female life.” In doing so, she attempted to loosen the shackles imposed by the collective subconscious. The album discusses themes of sex and human nature. Her diary serves as an honest mirror: “After nine years of writing a diary, I can bravely face the uglier side of myself.”

“Pleasure” continues the exploration of the inner dark side first introduced in Ugly Beauty, delving deeper into the root causes behind emotions. She comes to realize that self-exploration is a lifelong journey — once it begins, it becomes an eternal dialogue.

If Ugly Beauty is a library for storing emotions, then Pleasure is a spiritual frontier that Jolin unlocked after collecting a panoramic spectrum of both positive and negative feelings. It is chaotic and free. “I don’t know what I’m about to face. It may be something I’m afraid to touch, or a hurdle I can’t break through.”

Driven by the unknown, Jolin turned her attention to deeper reflections on human nature. During the pandemic, she used the extra time to read books on psychology, philosophy, economics, and management — from Dante’s Divine Comedy and the medieval Carmina Burana to Schopenhauer’s theory of desire. These nutrients gradually transformed into creative inspiration.

By chance, she came across writer Alain de Botton’s reinterpretation of the Seven Deadly Sins in the context of daily life:

  • Pride is a deep desire for a sense of existence.
  • Wrath is a cry for help from misunderstood pain.
  • Gluttony compensates for emotional emptiness.
  • Greed reflects a longing for security.
  • Sloth is a protest against soul-level exhaustion.
  • Jealousy reveals the distance between us and our ideal life.
  • Lust arises from a yearning for intimate connection.

This reimagining reveals a fragile, human side beneath the original accusatory framework. The “sins” are not evil deeds, but projections of our shared human vulnerability.

Jolin found herself drawn to this interpretation. “I can’t deny that I am greedy,” she said. “In the entertainment industry, I still inadvertently fear being ignored.” The more she explored the essence of these sins, the more she saw traces of humanity in each one — and in herself. With that, she began listening to the inner voices she had previously silenced.

Because the “sins” we project from our weaknesses are also our soil and nourishment. When we accept our shadows and stop running from our desires, pleasure can grow — and power returns to our own hands.

In this process, Jolin came to a profound realization: “Pleasure is the ultimate gift given to us by fate — one that brings us to a new level of happiness and fulfillment.” She encourages everyone to explore their inner world without fear of its depth. Only by doing so can we truly take control of our own destiny.

Jolin’s 15th new album “Pleasure” will contain 11 songs and will be released in June.

Pleasure (the song) has finally been released ! / Pleasure (la chanson) est enfin disponible !

🇬🇧 The title song Pleasure has finally been released yesterday !
It immediately rose to #1 in KKBOX TW Top Trending Song Charts one hour after it was released.

Pleasure
Lyrics: JOLIN 蔡依林 / 王永良 Tom Wang / Richard Craker / Ross Golan
Music: JOLIN 蔡依林 / Richard Craker / Ross Golan / Valentina Ploy

The single’s cover represents the strong interweaving of sin and desire with full drama and tension. The tattoo “Pleasure” on Jolin’s finger symbolizes inner desire, and her braids are like chains that bind desire, holding you tightly, showing the struggle of wanting to break free from guilt and face desire.

The spiritual core of the new song “Pleasure” is to be honest with oneself. Jolin sings “Call me Mommy” in the song. She transforms into the “mother of pleasure”, gently leading the audience to embrace their emotions and desires, and no longer feel ashamed or blame themselves for “unconventional” desires.

“Summon the inner voice that you once avoided, awaken the primitive instinct deep in the subconscious, release desire, look directly at the truth, and walk naked on the edge of guilt and pleasure. This time, pleasure is defined by you!”

Jolin created a paradise with no taboos in the song, inviting you to join the sensory journey of pleasure. The binary opposition in the paradise is gradually collapsing – pleasure and sin, light and darkness, order and chaos, heaven and hell, conscious and subconscious… No longer black and white, but a symbiotic whole. In this chaotic reshaping ceremony after traveling through the seven deadly sins of human nature, Jolin sings “I am you, our cords entwine” to reveal to the world that we are all the same, we can dominate pleasure and enjoy pleasure!

“Pleasure” is a dynamic track inspired by rave culture, blending Techno and House music to create an intense emotional journey. The song uses futuristic synth bass and shifting rhythms to evoke emotional tension, while House evoke the release of desire. Jolin controls the energy, leading the soul trapped in a maze of desire to find the exit. When sin and desire interweave into pleasure, the song finally turns into a declaration of rebirth: “That’s my pleasure!”

You can listen to Pleasure below:

At first, it was just a melody in the album. Jolin liked it more and more, so she turned it into a song. However, the demo was shelved for two years, and she always felt that there was something missing, and she couldn’t get over it.

Therefore, she kept trying new melodies to find inspiration, until she put the last piece of the puzzle together, and then she let go of the heaviness in her heart and burst into tears of joy: “I finally have a hit song.” The birth of this song was long and persistent, but Jolin cherishes the feeling of “there is still a gap in my heart”. It is precisely because of imperfection that she longs to create. Jolin said, “Everyone has a moment when they feel that something is missing in life. It may be the things you have lost that are calling you, or the unsatisfied pain that is reminding you that you have to find what you really want, just like I want to know what Pleasure is to me.”

Jolin’s 15th new album “Pleasure” will contain 11 songs and will be released in June.

🇬🇧 Yesterday, Jolin revealed seven new promotional pictures for Pleasure, inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins.

I want to be noticed, touched, and completely devoured – without even chewing.

Laziness has taken over my spine, failure has nothing to do with me.

You wish you were me ?

I’m not really greedy, I just don’t want to miss anything, not even your breath.

My skin remembers what I try to forget.

Between breath and heartbeat, shame takes every opportunity: Burn, this should be yours – isn’t it?

Underneath the silence, my nerves are reciting poetry for forbidden desires.

Jolin’s agent declared that none of the upcoming songs off the new album are named after the Seven Deadly Sins.

A preview of a track called “Pleasure: Prelude” has also been posted by Jolin ! Her agent confirmed that this is Pleasure (the title song)’s prelude. You can listen to it below:

“My body is a diary of silent tears and untold stories.
Turn down the noise, your body is speaking.”
