Jolin’s last collaboration with Mc Donald’s Taiwan was in 2003 ! You can watch the CF below:
Jolin wrote lyrics and composed a song for a drama for the first time. And she’s also a producer !
Jolin built a simple recording studio in her home. Producer Howe Chen, who co-produced the song with her, praised her for singing the first half of the song with reserved emotions but with a surge of emotion, the high note at the end of the song released the desire and excitement for love.
In order to create Someday, Somewhere, Jolin held a meeting with the production team of the drama. She even met the chief director who shared the story and script. He suggested her to use the perspective of an angel located at places buzzing with activity: MRT, buses, etc. , quietly watching over the love stories of urban people.
After reading the book as well, Jolin used her delicate observation skills to figure out the mood of the characters, combined it with the perspective that the director wanted, and wrote this beautiful but regretful ballad.
Jolin said: “This song is about longing for love. There is also a little regret about the fact that you cannot say what you want to say at the moment. It’s the feeling that your future self is talking softly to your present self. I hope everyone can feel it these ten love stories in their hearts.”
On September 27th, Jolin attended ELIXIR’s press conference as their new brand ambassador in Taipei !
She talked a bit about the new album, it’s very unlikely that it will be released this year. She might release one or two singles before the end of the year though.

New single coming for Jolin ! It’s called “Someday, somewhere” and will be the theme song of an upcoming Netflix drama, 此時此刻 At The Moment.
The drama will be available on Netflix starting from November 10th.
Summary by Netflix: “At The Moment is a collection of stories set in Taiwan, portraying a variety of romantic encounters between people in different cities during the pandemic. The series starts with a reality dating show, setting the stage for ten unique love stories to unfold.”

A year ago, movie director 程偉豪 Cheng Wei-hao asked her to make the theme song of the movie. He thought of her right away since they already collaborated on 紅衣女孩 Lady In Red and 愛的羅曼死 Romance MVs.
After reading the script and watching the trailer, Jolin decided to use the word “對象 partner” to refer to the intimacy that has not been defined and does not need to be explained (hence the English title “untitled”). After time, people can become friends, or lovers, but some people become each other’s “dear partner”.
She worried several times that it would not be good enough, so she was stuck during the process of creation. It took one year to complete 親愛的對象 untitled.

The MV’s story is a prequel of the upcoming movie 關於我和鬼變成家人的那件事 Marry my dead body. It’s about the grandma and her grandson (the future ghost), and their path, from hiding from each other to accepting each other.
Movie director 程偉豪 Cheng Wei-hao asked Jolin to star in a future movie of his, but she refused. However, she said: “When I’ll become an actress in my next life, I’ll definitely call you. Wait until I figure it out someday, I will call you”.

As soon as she heard MAX‘s voice, she was attracted to it, and she brought up the idea that MAX could sing in Mandarin, a first for the American singer.
Jolin praised the results: “MAX sings very standard Chinese without losing the sexiness of his voice. Great!”
When Jolin heard the song, she was feeling blue, and the lyrics moved her.
Since Steve Aoki and MAX lives in the US, Jolin often had to wake up at 2 or 3 o’clock in order to discuss matters related to the single.
She added that she has been relatively lazy for the past two years, her pace of life slowed down, especially because of the pandemic. She stayed at home more often and fell in love with cleaning !
